Registered unemployment level in Latvia declines to 5.9%
RIGA, July 11 (LETA) - At the end of June, Latvia's registered unemployment declined 0.2 percentage points from the previous month to 5.9 percent of the economically active population, according to information released by the State Employment Agency.
At the end of June, a total of 52,257 people in Latvia were registered with the agency as jobless. Their number decreased by 1,568 from the end of May.
The lowest unemployment rate was registered in Riga Region where 4.3 percent of the working-age population were out work at the end of June, 0.1 percentage points down from the previous month. In Latvia's eastern province of Latgale, joblessness was at 13.1 percent, still the highest rate in Latvia, but a reduction of 0.4 percentage points from the previous month.
Unemployment in Latvia's western province of Kurzeme was 6 percent (0.3 percentage points less than in May), in Vidzeme 6.3 percent (0.2 percentage points down), and in Zemgale - 5.5 percent (0.3 percentage points down).
In Riga, registered unemployment was 4.3 percent of the economically active population, same as in May.
