RIGA, Sep 1 (LETA) - As many as 218,773 pupils will start the new school year in 672 education institutions, according to the information by the Education and Science Ministry.

There will be about 40 primary schools, 235 elementary schools, 277 secondary schools, including gymnasiums, and 44 special education institutions, one evening and distance learning schools, and three vocational schools.

This year at least 33 schools were reorganized and another five schools were liquidated.

In order to resume person-to-person learning at schools, pupils are require to present a Covid-19 certificate for vaccination or recovery from Covid-19 or a negative Covid-19 tests that are conducted at schools once a week.
