Government approves Latvia's representatives for the EU Committee of Regions
RIGA, Nov 5 (LETA) - The Latvian government today approved the new Latvian representatives for the EU Committee of the Regions.
The government appointed seven full member and seven alternate members for the Committee of the Regions.
The list of full members includes Liepaja city council chairman Gunars Ansins (Liepaja's Party), the head of the Latvian Association of Local Governments Gints Kaminskis, Adazi local council chairwoman Karina Mikelsona (Latvia's Association of Regions), Bauska local council chairman Aivars Okmanis (National Alliance), Riga City Council lawmaker Dainis Turlais (Honor to Serve Riga), Ventspils city council chairman Janis Vitolins (For Latvia and Ventspils) and Saldus local council chairman Marisa Zusts (Latvia's Green Party).
The alternate members include Ogre mayor Egils Helmanis (National Alliance), Balvi local council chairman Sergejs Maksimovs (Latgale's Party), Riga City Council lawmaker Justine Pantelejeva (Progressives), Ropazi local council chairman Aivars Priedols (Greens/Farmers), Jekabpils local council chairman Raivis Ragainis (Latvia's Green Party) and Cesis local council chairman Janis Rozenbergs (New Unity).
The Latvian representatives will work in the committee from January 26, 2025, until January 25, 2030.
