Riga and Jurmala to be reimbursed for money spent on hosting refugees
Riga, April 11 (LETA) - The government plans to compensate Riga and Jurmala for the funds spent on reception of refugees and persons with alternative status, according to the draft Cabinet of Ministers decree submitted for approval on the legislation portal.
The Smart Administration and Regional Development Ministry is to be allocated EUR 31,905 from contingency funds for transfer to the municipalities.
Riga municipality is to receive EUR 31,542, and Jurmala municipality - EUR 363.
Riga will be reimbursed for the provision of assistance to 20 persons who acquired refugee or subsidiary status between 2024 and 2025, while Jurmala will be reimbursed for one person.
