    Latvian Association of Regions retains power in Saulkrasti municipality

    Riga, June 8 (LETA) - The Latvian Association of Regions has won the local elections in Saulkrasti municipality, according to preliminary data published by the Central Election Commission.

    Counting the votes in all polling stations in Saulkrasti municipality, the Latvian Association of Regions received 41.07 percent of the votes, which gives it seven seats in the city council.

    The National Alliance is in second place with 29.28 percent of the votes, which would give them five seats in the council. Third place with 8.87 percent of the votes goes to Platform 21, which gives it one seat on the council.

    The New Unity also made it to the council with 8.47 percent of the votes, giving it one seat. Another seat was won by the Union of Greens and Farmers with 7.05 percent of support.

    Currently, the Latvian Association of Regions has six seats in the Saulkrasti municipal council, Latvia's Green Party - four, the National Alliance/New Conservative Party - three, and For Latvia's Development - two.
