Latvian Association of Regions wins local elections in Marupe Region
RIGA, June 6 (LETA) - The Latvian Association of Regions (LRA) emerged as the winner of local elections in Marupe Region on Saturday, according to preliminary election results.
LRA won the polls in Marupe with 23.37 percent of votes, leaving the Union of Greens and Farmers second with 21.05 percent.
For Development of Latvia followed with 17 percent voter support, the National Alliance with 10.92 percent and New Unity with 8.05 percent.
As reported, 327,938 voters or 34.01 percent of eligible voters cast their votes in this year's local government elections, according to the Central Election Commission's data.
This is the lowest voter turnout since the restoration of independence.
