Climate and Energy Ministry to open regional office in Rezekne on Thursday
RIGA, Oct 1 (LETA) - On Thursday, 2 October, the Ministry of Climate and Energy (KEM) will open a representative office in Latgale Province in Rezekne to promote the economic development of the Latgale region, the KEM informed LETA.
The Latgale representative office will be located in the premises of the State Environmental Service in Rezekne.
The aim of establishing the Latgale representative office is to facilitate the attraction of investments to the eastern border area, to promote the economic development of the Latgale region, and to ensure a closer presence of KEM in the region.
Climate and Energy Minister Kaspars Melnis (Greens/Farmers) points out that the well-being of the people of Latvia, and in particular of the eastern border region, is a matter of national security. The purpose of establishing the representative office is to attract investment to the region in order to promote economic development, competitiveness and prosperity.
The representative office will support the needs of residents and businesses by providing a closer presence in the region. KEM expects that the office will provide a closer link with residents and businesses to better understand the needs of the region.
On the day of the opening event, Melnis will meet with the heads of municipalities and businesses in the Latgale region.
