Conservatives group of Riga City Council demand suspension of councilor Vladova from position of school director
RIGA, May 13 (LETA) - The Conservatives group of the Riga City Council in relation with May 9-10 events in Riga demand suspension of councilor Anna Vladova (Harmony) from the position of the director of Riga Secondary School No.80, LETA learned from the party.
The Conservatives group has asked the Riga City Council education, culture and sports department to assess whether Vladova is fit for the position of a school director.
In line with the education law, a school director should have impeccable reputation and is loyal to the Republic of Latvia and the Constitution.
Riga Vice Mayor Linda Ozola (Conservatives) said that, considering Latvia's national security interests, open or hidden support to war crimes or praising of occupation are not acceptable. The Conservatives believe that any person who on May 9-10 went with flowers to the Victory Monument of Riga, was singing songs praising the Soviet army, is a traitor of the country.
"It is not acceptable that money is paid from the government or municipal budget in wages to persons who are against this country in their stance. It is not acceptable that such people work in our education system," said Conservatives group chairman Janis Ozols, calling for a zero tolerance against anyone who is not loyal to Latvia.
