Registered unemployment in Latvia drops to 4.9% at end-March
RIGA, April 9 (LETA) - The registered unemployment rate in Latvia at the end of March was 4.9 percent of the economically active population, down from 5.2 percent a month earlier, according to information published by the State Employment Agency (NVA).
Compared to the end of February, registered unemployment declined by 0.3 percentage points.
The lowest registered unemployment rate at the end of March was still in the Riga region - 3.7 percent of the economically active population, while the highest registered unemployment rate was in the Latgale region - 10.1 percent.
At the end of March, the registered unemployment rate was 4.6 percent in Vidzeme, 4.9 percent in Zemgale, and 5 percent in Kurzeme.
At the end of March, 15,982 people were registered with NVA as jobless in the Riga region, 10,409 in Latgale, 6,490 in Kurzeme, 5,856 in Vidzeme, and 5,127 in Zemgale.
The number of vacancies was 7,075 in the Riga region, 1,093 in Vidzeme, 1,076 in Zemgale, 980 in Kurzeme, and 742 in Latgale.
At the end of 2025, the registered unemployment rate in Latvia was 5 percent of the economically active population.
