RIGA, Sept 18 (LETA) - The combined turnover of the companies operating in the Rezekne Special Economic Zone (SEZ) totaled EUR 112.47 million in 2024, Rezekne SEZ spokeswoman Daiga Utane told LETA.

The Rezekne SEZ Supervisory Board at a meeting on September 17 approved the Rezekne SEZ 2024 Public Report.

According to the report, 22 commercial companies were operating in the Rezekne SEZ last year, employing 1,267 people. The combined turnover of these companies totaled EUR 112.47 million. The highest turnover figures were reported by Verems - EUR 52.6 million, LEAX Rezekne - EUR 18.2 million and NewFuels - EUR 15.6 million.

Exports by the Rezekne SEZ companies came to EUR 84.9 million in 2024. Ten of these companies exported their products to EU countries, the U.S., Japan and other destinations.

Utane noted that in terms of investment, 2024 was the most successful year for the Rezekne SEZ yet. The companies invested EUR 89.9 million in infrastructure and technology, while accumulated long-term investments (2019-2024) exceeded EUR 252 million.

The largest long-term investments were made in Verems - EUR 81.2 million, Opto Elektronika LV - EUR 6.7 million and Baibina - EUR 1.1 million. These figures reflect both the confidence of entrepreneurs in the SEZ and its growing importance for the economy of Latgale and Latvia as a whole, said Utane.
