Liepaja military base project being developed gradually - Pabriks
RIGA, Jan 22 (LETA) - The project of Liepaja military base continues gradually, said Defense Minister Artis Pabriks (For Development) in a press conference.
The minister said that Latvia's investments are limited, therefore Latvia might attract NATO investments for expanding the base.
"The Liepaja base will expand, and Liepaja residents should be aware that this impact will be positive. It means new jobs and strengthening security of Latvia's western coat. There is a development, but it is a project for at least five years. The process continues slowly, but development is stable," the minister said.
As reported, at present there are nine military objects in Liepaja. The Defense Ministry plans to merge them into a single military base
The development of the new Liepaja military base is planned in two stages.
