Number of new companies registered in Latvia up 11.5% in eight months
RIGA, Sept 4 (LETA) - In the first eight months of this year, a total of 6,881 new companies were registered in Latvia, which is 11.5 percent or 712 companies more than in the corresponding period of 2024, according to data compiled by Lursoft.
In August, 861 new companies were registered, which is 63 more than in July this year and 157 more than last August.
The total share capital of companies registered in August amounts to EUR 24.65 million.
Lursoft noted that more than half of the total share capital of the new companies in August is held by one capital company - LG Capital, established by Latvijas Gaze natural gas utility. EUR 17 million have been invested in the share capital of the new company.
The municipalities with the highest number of new companies registered in August are Riga with 429 companies, Marupe municipality with 31 companies, Jurmala with 27 companies, Jelgava with 25 companies, Daugavpils with 24 companies, Ropazi municipality with 19 companies, Adazi municipality with 18 companies, Liepaja with 17 companies, Tukums municipality with 17 companies, Kekava municipality with 17 companies.
