Driving conditions are difficult in parts of Vidzeme and Latgale, as well as in the whole of Pieriga region

Riga, Jan 8 (LETA) - On Thursday morning driving conditions on national roads are difficult in the whole of the Baltic Sea region, as well as in parts of Vidzeme and Latgale, according to information gathered by Latvijas Valsts Celi (LVC) state road manager.

Overall, traffic conditions on major roads on Thursday morning are better than on the previous three days of the week.

In the vicinity of the capital, driving is difficult around 6.50 a.m. on the Riga ring road, as well as on the major highways within a radius of a few tens of kilometers around Riga.

There are several slippery sections on the Vidzeme and Valmiera motorways, and a similar situation on the major roads around Jekabpils and a little to the east of it - towards Rezekne and Daugavpils. In the rest of Latgale, driving conditions on national roads are satisfactory.

On regional roads, driving is difficult throughout Latvia, except around Bauska, Kuldiga and Smiltene.
