Mayor of Ropazi Municipality replaced as governing coalition changes
RIGA, May 20 (LETA) - The governing coalition in Ropazi Municipality has changed, and the municipal council has elected a new mayor, Aivars Draudins (United List).
At today's meeting, the Ropazi Municipal Council dismissed Signe Grube (New Unity/Progressives) as Ropazi mayor and Renate Gremze (New Unity/Progressives) as her deputy.
Toms Zarins, a spokesman for the Progressives party, informed LETA that the coalition that was established in Ropazi after the 2025 municipal elections, ceased to exist on Wednesday.
Of the 18 councilors present at the council meeting, 13 voted in favor of Grube's dismissal, while five voted against. There are 19 members on the Ropazi Municipal Council.
Gremze was also relieved of her duties.
Draudins, a former deputy mayor, was elected Ropazi mayor by 13 votes.
