RIGA, Dec 7 (LETA) - MP Toms Arturs Pless (For Development) has been put forward for the post of environmental protection and regional development minister, For Development told LETA today.

Pless' candidacy has been put forward to the ruling coalition today, and the parties making up the government will meet with the candidate in the near future.

If appointed minister, Pless plans to ask Dace Bluke (For Development) to become the ministry's next parliamentary secretary, the post he has been serving in the current parliament.

Pless heads the Administrative Territorial Reform Committee in the Saeima, which reviewed and moved forward the administrative territorial reform in the parliament.

If appointed, Pless said that his priorities as ministers will be the implementation of administrative-territorial reform and the adoption of the new Local Government Law in the Saeima, Latvia's progress towards climate neutrality and the European green course, including the introduction of a bottle deposit system, as well as work on the country's digital transformation.
