Dundaga local council fails to elect new chairman
RIGA, Feb 3 (LETA) - Dundaga local council on Wednesday morning did not elect the council chairman, therefore a new meeting has been convened, said councillor Andra Grivane (Let's Work Together).
Also the second meeting was convened by local councillor Madars Burnevics (For Our Region).
Grivane ran for the chairperson's position, and five of the nine lawmakers voted against her, including former council chairman Aldis Felts and his deputy Janis Maurins who on January 27 stepped down from their position.
Grivane was supported by lawmakers from her own party and Burnevics.
Grivane assumes that the second meeting will not have the necessary quorum because several lawmakers had said that they would not be able to attend the meeting.
Three parties are represented at the Dundaga local council - five lawmakers are from For Our People, three from Let's Work Together and one from For Our Region.
