Ence elected chairman of new Marupe regional council
RIGA, July 1 (LETA) - Former long-term mayor of Babite regional council Andrejs Ence (Latvian Alliance of Regions, LRA) has been elected the chairman of the new Marupe regional council, LETA learned from the council.
Ence was supported with 11 votes to eight.
Ence was Babite county chairman from 1991 until 2005, and since 2009 he was the chairman of Babite region until 2020.
The new Marupe region has been merged with former Marupe and Babite regions.
LRA won five seats in the new Marupe regional council, the Union of Greens and Farmers also won five mandates, For Latvia's Development got four seats, the National Alliance got three seats, and New Unity won two seats.
