Bite Latvija to disconnect 3G network in several Vidzeme region districts next week
Riga, Nov 3 (LETA) - Information and communication technology service provider Bite Latvija will disable 3G network in Aluksne, Gulbene, Madona, Ogre, Smiltene and Varaklani municipalities at night from November 11 to November 12, the company told LETA.
The company explained that this is the next step in the phasing out of 3G coverage across Latvia in order to shift resources to more powerful and efficient 4G and 5G solutions.
So far, Bite Latvija has already switched off the 3G network in several cities and regions in Zemgale, Kurzeme, Vidzeme and Latgale. The company plans to completely switch off 3G coverage across the country by spring 2026.
The company also adds that older devices and SIM cards may be affected by the 3G network switch-off. In case of any doubts, customers are invited to contact Bite Latvija specialists.
Bite Latvija reported a turnover of EUR 183.75 million last year, an increase of 12.5 percent compared to 2023, while its profit rose by 1 percent to EUR 33.712 million.
The company was registered in 2005 and has a share capital of EUR 44 million. Bite Latvija is wholly owned by the Lithuanian Bite group, which is owned by Providence Equity Partners, a global asset management company.
