Early last year, women in Latvia were by 134,717 more than men
Riga, Jan 17 (LETA) - At the beginning of last year, 997,641 out of the total population of Latvia were women, and 862,924 - men, according to information provided by the Central Statistical Bureau.
Thus, the number of women in Latvia at the beginning of last year was by 134,717 higher than the number of men.
The number of men was lower in all Latvian cities and in almost all regions, except for Rezekne, Saulkrasti and Ventspils. At the beginning of 2025, there were 13,966 men and 13,743 women in Rezekne municipality and 5,012 men and 4,971 women in Saulkrasti municipality. In Ventspils municipality, there were 5,191 men and 5,104 women at the beginning of last year.
