A quarter of population in Latvia was at risk of poverty in 2024
RIGA, Jan 4 (LETA) - At the end of 2024, 24.7 percent of the population in Latvia was at risk of poverty, according to information provided by the Central Statistical Bureau.
The risk of poverty was higher for women - 27.4 percent of women were at risk of poverty at the end of 2024. At the age of 65 and over, almost half or 47.3 percent of women in this age group were at risk of poverty.
Among women, the risk of poverty was lowest at the age group until 17, at 17.8 percent.
The data show that 21.5 percent of men were at risk of poverty at the end of 2024. Similarly to women, men were at the highest risk at age 65 and over, with 34.9 percent at risk of poverty.
