RIGA, Jan 14 (LETA) - Sigulda wastewater treatment facilities will be modernized for EUR 6,561,918, the municipality informed LETA.

This week, Sigulda water management company Saltavots signed a contract with association GL-Pillar, made up of companies Pillar Contractor and GL Konsultants, for increasing the capacity and modernization of Sigulda wastewater treatment facilities.

The project includes construction of a second wastewater treatment technological line, reconstruction of the existing wastewater treatment line, equipment upgrades, and installation of two wastewater sludge treatment units. Automatic waste water treatment facilities' control system will also be modernized.

As a result, efficiency of waste water treatment will increase and nitrogen and phosphorus concentrations in treated wastewater will be reduced.

The project is to be completed by October 30, 2028.

The total eligible cost of the project stand at EUR 6,561,918, of which the European Regional Development Fund will cover 53.34 percent, or up to EUR 3.5 million, and Sigulda municipal company 46.66 percent, or no less than EUR 3.06 million.
