RIGA, March 26 (LETA) - One of the most important priorities for the Environment Protection and Regional Development Ministry will be digital transformation, said Minister Arturs Toms Pless (For Development) at a press conference on his performance during the first 100 days in the office.

He underscored that the current fragmented digital policy will be replaced with centralized decisions and coordinated digital policy.

The ministry has set six priority directions - digital solutions principle, IT system architecture reform, data management reform, data center consolidation, professionalization and competence consolidation, as well as development of a unified customer service network.

By 2023, 587 unified state and municipal service centers will be opened, ensuring that there is at least one such service center in each county.

Pless underscored that the ministry continued the started reforms and launched significant reforms in all areas supervised by the ministry.

The ministry has worked on support mechanisms to local governments, including to reduce consequences from the Covid-19 crisis on the economy.

The ministry continues work on the administrative territorial reform, providing methodological support to local governments.
