Schools in Daugavpils to have by 130 fewer children in grade 1 this school year
Riga, Aug 25 (LETA) - In September, 732 first-graders will start school in Daugavpils, which is 130 fewer than last year, the public relations department of the municipality informed LETA.
Starting from the 2025/2026 school year, 11 general schools and Daugavpils Design and Art Secondary School Saules Skola, nine pre-school educational institutions, as well as Children and Youth Centre Jauniba will operate under the jurisdiction of the Daugavpils Education Administration.
According to the data provided by the educational institutions on August 18, 8,915 pupils will be enrolled in general education schools. Pre-school education programs will be attended by 3,531 children this school year.
The Daugavpils city education board continues to monitor the dynamics of pupil numbers and provide up-to-date information, the municipality said.
