Saeima supports extending curfews and expanding range of products available at stores

RIGA, Jan 14 (LETA) - Saeima today supported amendments to the Decree Regarding Declaration of the Emergency Situation that the government approved on January 7, which stipulate extending the curfews and expanding the range of products available at stores.

According to the amendments, most of the current Covid-19 restrictions, including weekend curfews from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., restrictions on services, retail trade and education, have been extended until January 25.

Until January 25, beauty, piercing and tattoo salons will be closed, indoor sports equipment rental will be suspended, as well as photography services (except photography for documents) and in-home recreation services.

Hunting with dogs has also been suspended until January 25. Libraries reopened on January 12 to offer residents to borrow books. Museums' outdoor exhibitions have also been permitted, while other cultural venues and services may only operate remotely.

The range of goods and products available at stores has been expanded from January 12, when stores were permitted to sell also tights, socks, shawls, scarfs, hats, gloves, shovels, electric heating devices and bakery paper.

In addition, pharmacies, veterinary pharmacies, optical goods stores and fuel stations continue to provide in-person services.

Stores have to ensure at least 15 square meters space for each customer. The customer flow should be regulated with shopping baskets or shopping carts.
