More than 60 tons of waste collected during Big Cleanup in Riga
RIGA, April 27 (LETA) - People in Riga collected more than 60 tons of household waste during the annual Big Cleanup campaign last Saturday, LETA was informed by Riga City Council.
Furthermore, participants of the cleanup collected 15 cubic meters of roofing slates, 130 cubic meters of biological waste, leaves and branches, more than 500 tires, as well as other types of waste, including construction debris and bulky waste.
The removal of this waste from the 93 cleanup sites registered in the municipality this year was ensured by the Riga Spatial Planning and Mobility Department, which is still continuing the removal of slates, tires, branches and other types of waste.
Rigas Mezi municipal forest management company, educational institutions and other participants of the cleanup will provide waste removal from 31 sites. Data on the amount of waste collected during the Big Cleanup is still being compiled.
