PM Karins says coalition has not raised objections to Welfare Ministry's plan for curbing Covid-19 in nursing homes

RIGA, Jan 25 (LETA) - Coalition partners have not raised objections to the action plan worked out by the Welfare Ministry in collaboration with the Health Ministry and the Environmental Protection and Regional Development Ministry to curb the spread of Covid-19 in Latvia's nursing homes, it follows from Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins' (New Unity) remarks made after the weekly coalition meeting.

The prime minister said that today's coalition meeting focused on hearing Welfare Minister Ramona Pertavica's (KPV LV) plan for coordinated action among the Welfare Ministry, the Health Ministry and the Environmental Protection and Regional Development Ministry, aimed at curbing the spread of the virus in care homes.

"There was a discussion about the plan, I never really heard any objection to it, so tomorrow we will decide on it at the government meeting," the prime minister said.

Karins also said that this week, the Cabinet of Ministers plans to review and adopt Health Minister Daniels Pavluts' (For Development/For) plan for the vaccination of Latvia's population against Covid-19, "which is highly important, as it will map the way for Latvia's successful exit from the crisis situation by vaccinating everyone on a voluntary basis".
