    22 Covid-19 cases reported at municipal and private nursing homes

    RIGA, Jan 11 (LETA) - As of January 9, there were 22 Covid-19 positive clients at Latvia's municipal and private nursing homes, Welfare Ministry official Ineta Vjakse told the Saeima Defense, Interior and Corruption Prevention Committee on Tuesday. 

    There are currently no Covid-19 cases at state nursing homes but four employees of these institutions have the infection. 

    As of Monday, there were no reports of hospitalizations or deaths among nursing home clients.

    At present, 91 percent of clients and 97 percent of employees at municipal and private nursing homes have been vaccinated for Covid-19, with booster shots provided to 39 percent of the clients and 20 percent of the staff. 

    Meanwhile, all clients of state nursing homes were vaccinated for Covid-19 by January 1 and 47 percent had received booster shots. Also, 97 percent of staff had undergone primary vaccination and 18 percent had received third shots.
