Adazi Region Council Chairwoman Mikelsone steps down
RIGA, Jan 8 (LETA) - After Adazi Region Council failed to reach agreement on the municipality's budget for 2026, the council's chairwoman Karina Mikelsone (Latvian Association of Regions) announced her resignation on Thursday.
According to information posted on the municipality's website, Adazi Region Council's Finance Committee held a meeting to consider the municipality's draft budget for 2026.
Review of the draft budget was postponed for a week by eight votes to seven.
Several councilors pointed to unequal distribution of finances between the counties and villages of the municipality.
Mikelsone will continue as Adazi Region Council's chairperson until the next council meeting.
