Shopping Centre “Origo” Significantly Improves Energy Efficiency and Reduces CO₂ Emissions with Artificial Intelligence Solutions

July 13, 2026

The following is a press release from Origo:

The multifunctional centre “Origo” continues to reinforce its position as a leader in energy efficiency and sustainable building management by further expanding the use of the artificial intelligence solution “R8 Digital Operator” in its operations. Over the past year, these solutions have helped reduce energy-related costs by more than EUR 132,000, while significantly lowering energy consumption and CO₂ emissions. The achieved results demonstrate a continued shift towards a modern, data-driven and highly efficient approach to building management.

Sustainable development and efficient resource management remain among the key strategic priorities for the multifunctional centre “Origo”. By gradually implementing modern, data-driven technologies, “Origo” continues to improve resource efficiency, reduce the building’s environmental impact and ensure a comfortable, reliable and high-quality environment for tenants and visitors.

“Sustainable development starts with smart decisions and the right technologies that help us use resources more efficiently. Artificial intelligence has become an integral part of our building management approach, enabling more accurate energy consumption forecasting and optimisation. As the system continues to learn and evolve, its efficiency improves year after year, helping us reduce energy consumption, minimise our environmental footprint and enhance the overall performance of the building. We believe that sustainability is not a single initiative, but a long-term commitment that contributes to creating a modern, competitive and people-centred urban environment. Together with the ‘Riga Central Business District’, the multifunctional centre ‘Origo’ is actively contributing to this vision of the future,” says Evija Majevska, Commercial Director of “Linstow Baltic” and the multifunctional centre “Origo”.

In 2025, the largest energy savings were achieved through the optimisation of electricity consumption, resulting in cost savings of more than EUR 117,000. Optimised thermal energy management delivered additional savings exceeding EUR 14,000. In total, the implemented AI-driven solutions reduced energy consumption by more than 1,000 MWh over the year, highlighting the system’s ability to intelligently optimise complex building operations and drive greater energy efficiency.

At the same time, the building’s environmental footprint continues to decrease. Over the year, CO₂ emissions were reduced by 484 tonnes, while the overall emissions intensity reached 36 kg CO₂ per square metre. These results demonstrate continued progress towards the long-term goal of achieving climate neutrality.

The “R8 Digital Operator” solution has been implemented at the shopping centre “Origo” and the business centre “Origo One” since May 2022, enabling automated optimisation of building engineering systems and continuous adaptation to real-time operating conditions. The AI-powered solution intelligently manages key building systems, including heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), ensuring an optimal indoor climate and maintaining a high level of comfort. In 2025 alone, the system performed nearly 200,000 automatic adjustments, allowing for precise energy optimisation while ensuring stable and efficient indoor environmental conditions.

The multifunctional centre “Origo” continues to develop as one of the most prominent examples of a sustainable urban environment in the Baltics, consistently implementing energy-efficient solutions, responsible resource management and a modern, people-centred approach to urban development.
