United List and Sovereign Power/New Latvians see largest rise in party ratings
RIGA, July 3 (LETA) - In June, the biggest rise in the party popularity ratings was seen by the United List (AS) coalition and the Sovereign Power/New Latvians (SV/AJ) political bloc, according to a poll conducted by the SKDS research center on behalf of Latvian Television (LTV).
The survey was conducted from June 6 to June 16, during the period when Evika Silina's New Unity (JV) government had resigned and Andris Kulbergs' (AS) government had been approved.
The biggest gainer is AS, the party from which Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs ran.
If elections were held tomorrow, the Latvia First (LPV) party would receive 9.8 percent support, an increase of 0.5 percentage points. AS would rank second with 9.8 percent support, an increase of three percentage points. Next would be SV/AJ, which 8.6 percent of voters would support, an increase of 2.4 percentage points.
The next most popular party is the Progressives with 8.4 percent support, an increase of 0.6 percentage points. It is followed by the National Alliance with a 5.5 percent rating, an increase of 1.1 percentage points.
Meanwhile, support for the Union of Greens and Farmers has fallen by 1.2 percentage points to 4.4 percent, while support for New Unity has dropped by 1.7 percentage points to 4.2 percent. The We're Changing the Rules party, on the other hand, saw its rating drop by 0.6 percentage points-from 3.3 percent to 2.7 percent.
At the bottom of the party rankings is the New Conservative Party with 0.3 percent voter support. It is followed by Movement For with 0.4 percent support, the Rising Sun for Latvia party with 1 percent support, the Latvian Russian Union with 1.5 percent support, the For Latvia's Development with 1.6 percent support, the Stability party with 1.8 percent support, and Harmony Center with 1.9 percent support.
Support for Stability has decreased by 0.8 percentage points in this poll-to 1.8 percent. Meanwhile, support for Harmony Center rose from 1.5 percent to 1.9 percent, thereby moving ahead of Stability.
The survey included 1,823 Latvian citizens aged 18 to 75 from all regions of Latvia.
