    (FILES) Former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet poses for a photograph 15 January 1999 at the Wentworth state in London were he is under house arrest, while waiting for a decision on his diplomatic immunity. Pinochet was placed under house arrest in Santiago 30 October 2006, on new charges in connection with the disappearances of political prisoners during his rule. The charges stem from alleged torture at Villa Grimaldi, a secret detention center where Michelle Bachelet, now president of Chile, once was detained, along with other political prisoners.
